When Delta opened their new T4 at New York’s JFK Airport on the 24th of May they also opened their new flagship Sky Club. The newest and largest Sky Club in the Delta network is a revolution to both AvGeeks and the traveling public.
Located just past gate B30 in Terminal 4, this 24,000 square foot facility is the new home to those with Sky Club access. Delta has created a number of new technologies based on traveler’s wishes and turned this into one amazing lounge. The entrance to the club has the same nondescript doorway that you might find at other lounges what is found inside is quite unique.
The first thing that caught my eye as I entered the lounge was the word ’œShowers.’ The lounge is home to both shower and spa facilities, so if you are wanting that pre-flight massage and/or shower before your long flight you are good to go.
As I walked around the new lounge I noticed the numerous snack and drink stations where the usual lounge food can be found (although there were no Biscoffs in the lounge on opening day… the humanity!).
If you prefer a more substantial meal prior to your flight, there is no more need to sneak outside food into the lounge (though you may still do that if you want some Shake Shack). The center of the lounge is a dedicated sit-down restaurant where there are more substantial meal and snack options.
Passengers are able to order from the menu in the central seating area or if you prefer, you can eat almost anywhere without having to get up. There are iPpad ordering stations located throughout the lounge where lounge guests can swipe their credit card and the food will be brought to them directly (a buzzer is provided to let the staff know where you are). Meals are delivered fairly quickly and the food was reasonably priced (for an airport at least).
Another new feature that will please AvGeeks is the new Sky Deck. This is an outside, open air, lounge area on the roof of the building providing views of the tarmac & apron. Although on opening day the weather was not as good as it could have been, during summer this will be an amazing place to relax with a beer in the sunshine while watching airliners depart/arrive on the nearby runway.
As you walk around the lounge, one might notice the number of eye catching art displays. There is a multi-piece display dedicated to the famous Delta sign at their Atlanta HQ, paper aeroplane reproductions and some pretty slick things done to classic 747 body panels.
In the same area where the magazines and newspapers are located, Delta has taken 747 aluminium body panels, inscribed them with famous quotes that relate to reading and then polished them to a shine.
Whether you’re on a layover between flights, relaxing after a long day at work prior to your flight or beginning an epic adventure to a far off land, the new Delta Sky Club is going to be a place that pleases anyone who enters the doors. Just remember to bring your camera.

Reminiscent of the old “Sky Club” at the (formerly)Pan Am Building. Similar to the “Cloud Club” at the Chrysler or the “Hemisphere Club” at the Time-Life building.
Definately a beautiful lounge to visit. I got to visit a few more on another trip, let’s just say.. there’s more to come that will be similar to the ones you are referring to.
