What is better than one new awesome livery? Two of course. Yesterday, Air New Zealand revealed not just one new livery, but two. The livery is much more than just a fancy new design; It is also the start of a $20million marketing partnership between the airline and Tourism New Zealand.
“We are delighted to reveal our new aircraft livery which would not have been possible without the support of Tourism New Zealand and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise,” Air New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Christopher Luxon stated in a press release. “The new-look livery is distinctive and iconic and we believe will inspire a sense of pride in New Zealanders.”
The new livery features the official New Zealand Fern Mark and is a bit reminiscent of the highly popular All Blacks livery design previously seen on the 777. This change also celebrates black becoming the airline’s new brand color.
In the coming year, Air New Zealand will introduce the new design first on the 787-9 Dreamliner and then to the rest of the fleet. According to the airline the, “majority of the fleet will sport the white livery, with the black version reserved for a few select planes.” My bet is the first 787-9 will have the black livery.
In recent history, the airline has seemed a little lost in where they wanted their livery to go. With the introduction of the 777-300ER, the “Pacific Wave,” was removed and then more recently, it was announced the airline would go with a black tail. It might have taken them a while to arrive to this new livery, but holy smokes — what a looker, times two.

Here we have the third installment of showing off the beautiful Boeing 787 Dreamliner liveries that have been seen at Paine Field and around the world. There have now been 22 different liveries on 15 different airlines and one aircraft manufacture (Boeing). Last update was from August 2012 and we have seen quite a few new ones since then.

Do not worry, the cute animals are not going away! But Frontier has updated their livery to promote their website versus just the silver “Frontier” titles seen previously on the aircraft. The first animal to see the new livery is Mickey the Moose, who was previously on a Q400 and Boeing 737 before being brought out of retirement to be on this Airbus A319.
“Changing our livery provided us an opportunity to promote FlyFrontier.com,” Frontier spokesperson explained to AirlineReporter.com. “We won’t change the rest of our fleet all at once, but when we add aircraft to our fleet or older aircraft need to be painted, we’ll add the FlyFrontier.com to those aircraft as well.”

When going to buy a Boeing 747-8 Intercontiental, one of the most difficult decisions is choosing the outside design. Well, have no fear, help is here (and also a huge time waster). Boeing now offers AvGeeks the ability to design your own 7478I livery.
Even when you get bored making your own liveries, be sure to check out the few hundred that have already been made. Some are actually really good and others are, well… have opportunity for improvement (any of the ones we tried surely have TONS of room for improvement, so we are not ones to judge).
Interestingly enough, if you look at the first design in the gallery, it is an Air China 747-8I. The airline has five on order, which none have been delivered quite yet. Maybe this provides a nice preview for the airline?
Previously, users were also able to design their own Boeing 787 Dreamliner livery, but it looks like that page has been replaced with making the Intercontinetal. Good luck and have fun! If you can, be sure to share your results.

Three days this week, we have posted a photo post on a new livery on a 787 (An American Airlines 787 and a Norwegian Air 787 were posted earlier this week). Today we are highlighting British Airways first Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a sort of semi-livery. As in the tail is painted, but the fuselage is not.
We have seen this before and every other time, it has turned out to mean a special livery for the 787. Is British Airways planning the same? As of posting, no official word from the airline, but my guess is we will probably see something a bit different than their standard livery.

This has been a good month for BA and new aircraft types. Earlier, their first Airbus A380 rolled out of the paint hangar in Germany and now the 787 in Everett. Just too bad we do not know when the Dreamliner will be delivered to the airline.
