Boeing 777 loses one engine, luckily it has two!
Yes! Another good story that could have turned much worse. A Boeing 777 lost an engine shortly after take off at Sea-Tac airport in Seattle, WA. Asiana Flight 271 took off heading to South Korea with 179 passengers and 16 crew.
Then, something none of us want to hear and see — a few loud explosions and flames coming out of the left engine. At this time, it is not known what happened, but we will be keeping a close eye on this story.

Boeing 777 not looking so great
British Airways Flight 38 crashed in Heathrow Airport in London in January 2008. Luckily no one died and only 13 of the 136 aboard had minor injuries. The flight landed 1000 feet short of the runway due to lack of thrust to the engines, probably caused from ice in the fuel lines.
Upon landing, the landing gear collapsed and caused quite a mess.
Since then, the aircraft has been kept intact while investigating the accident. Even though the investigation is not completed, permission has been given for the airframe to be “broken up” and “sent for recycling.”
It is quite interesting to think what will happen to the airframe and in what future products it might end up in.

A Bunch of United Boeing 777 Tails at London Heathrow Airport.
For those that have trouble fitting into a standard passenger seat, they will have to prepare to pay double on United Airlines. They have pretty black and white criteria for those to meet this requirement:
– Unable to fit into a single seat in the ticketed cabin
– Unable to properly buckle the seatbelt using a single seatbelt extender
– Unable to put the seat’s armrests down when seated
A passenger falling under any of these criteria will be relocated or be forced to upgrade to first class or be booted to the next flight.
Of course this is humiliating to those who are in this bracket and no one of course wants that, but it seems to be the only fair solution instead of having to be a full paying passenger and only having half a seat due to someone who is a bit larger next to you.
Ryanair is a little less Politically Correct about the matter and about 1/3 of 100,000 people that voted on their website for “cost-reduction ideas” wanted to impose a “fat tax” for those who can’t fit into a seat.

CanJet Boeing 737 That was hijacked this Sunday
An 8 hour stand off with police and a hijacker is now over. A 20 year old Jamaican took over the CanJet plane after using force to get past security. He released all the passengers and two crew members, but held another six hostage.
It appears the young man had some mental issues (obviously) and was upset over a recently distraught relationship.
The CanJet Airlines flight 918 was a Boeing 737 enroute to Cuba.

Cargo Door open on jetBlue A320
A cargo handler working for JetBlue decided to take a little nap at a bad time. He fell asleep in the planes cargo bin and didn’t realize what was going on until in the air. Lucky for him, the cargo hold was heated which allowed him to live to tell his tale.
He took the short flight from New York to Boston and after be determined it was all an honest mistake, he was allowed to return to New York. No word if he will be one of many people newly unemployed.
