How well do you know airline liveries?

How well do you know airline liveries?

Wow, it has been years since I have done one of these livery challenges and that is just too long. Some of you old time readers probably remember (and either love or hate them), but I want to introduce them to some of the new readers.

The idea is quite simple. I give you some images of different airlines parts/pieces and you need to tell me, in the comments, #1 what airline does the image belong to and #2 what is the airplane type.

If you have your answers (you do not need to know them all) go ahead and post them in the comments to show your livery knowledge. Now, no cheating and looking in the comments for ideas. There are no prizes, just you know that you are an airline livery bad ass.

In a few days, I will post the answers and links to the full pictures. Good luck!

Do you know these liveries and aircraft types?

Do you know these liveries and aircraft types?

Wow, it has been almost a year since I did my last Ultimate Airline Livery Challenge. I have been meaning to do another, but obviously I did not get around to it until now. I did try a Landing Gear Contest back in March, but I miss the livery contest.

Since my last livery challenge, I have many more new readers, so I guess I should explain a bit on what this is about.

I show you a few 100×100 images of airlines and it is your job to tell me #1 what airline the image belongs to and #2 what kind of airplane is it? I don’t need to know exact model, but basic (ie “Boeing 777” vs “Boeing 777-300ER”).

Do not leave your answers in the comments, since others will be able to see them. Email your answers to me at

da***@ai*************.com

.

Those of you who get all the liveries and airplanes correct will win some super sweet AirlineReporter.com stickers that I will send you. Plus a big shout-out (and links to a website of choice) on the answer page. The contest will end on Friday whenever I post the answers (probably in the morning, PT).

Do not stress too much. If you only know a few, that is okay, still shoot me an email. Have fun and good luck!

ANSWERS FOR THE 5TH ULTIMATE AIRLINE LIVERY CHALLENGE

You think you have the livery skills to tell what airlines are in these photos?

You think you have the livery skills to tell what airlines are in these photos?

It has been a while since I have had an Ultimate Airline Livery Challenge, so let’s do another one.

The first challenge only had seven liveries and eight people got them correct. Then I held a second contest with eight tails and tried to make them a bit more tricky, but still, somehow, six of you still got all the answers. I figured I might have made it too difficult with the third contest, choosing ten obscure liveries and BAM, only two got them all right.

For the fourth installment of Ultimate Airline Livery Challenge, I am changing things up a bit. I am not adding any more, but doing more than just tails. As you can see, there are some different parts of aircraft than we have seen before and hopefully this will spice things up a bit. What is not changing is the basic challenge:

HOW MANY AIRLINE LIVERIES AND AIRCRAFT TYPES OF THE TEN CAN YOU GET RIGHT?

I will keep the contest open until Monday, January 31st, 5pm. If you have any questions, feel free to leave comments, but please email (

da***@ai*************.com

) your answers, since I don’t want others seeing them.

People who get them all correct will be given a prize. If you can’t get them all correct, don’t worry, send your answers on over anyhow, if you get enough I will give you a shout out on the blog. You can then print off the blog and put it on your fridge :).

This is not a hardcore contest, so have fun with it and tell me which ones you are having the most difficulty with.

How well did you do in this airline livery challenge?

How well did you do in this airline livery challenge?

YES! I did it. I made a very challenging Ultimate Livery Challenge that few people could get. However, maybe that is not the best way to do it, since I want more people to be able to enjoy. Anyhow, I knew this one was going to be difficult, but holy cow some people got them all right.

So who were the livery-nerds who got them right?
* Gordon W (@GordonWerner):  he is the only person to get all three livery challenges with aircraft types correct.
* Liz M (@ImperfectSense): not only did she get all the liveries, but she also got all the aircraft types.

Those semi livery-nerds with 5 or more correct:
* Patrick O: 9
* Ben W: 9
* Rory M: 8
* Raul G: 6
* Michael K: 6
* Robin J: 5

The winners will be mailed prizes and heck, since this one was so difficult, I am going to send AirlineReporter.com stickers to everyone who got five or more correct!

Good Luck!

Good Luck!

You ready for it? There are quite a few new readers since my last Ultimate Livery Challenge, so welcome and game on. One of my favorite things about following the airline biz is checking out all the airline liveries. Some are great and others are very lame. This is used to test your skills in knowing your liveries (or knowing how to research airlines via google).

Once again, there will be prizes. I got some new AirlineReporter.com stickers and if you get these all right (or have the most right) you are going to get some sweet stickers. Plus, you get total bragging rights and  a shout out on the answer blog. Here are the rules:

* Email me (

da***@ai*************.com

) the airline of each livery
* Unlike previous challenges you do not need to tell me the plane type. However, if you get all the liveries AND the plane types, there might be another special prize for you.
* Have fun! If you only know a few, still let me know. If no one gets them all, you could still win. If you have questions, ask them in the comments, but don’t post your answers there.
* You have until Friday October 1 at 5pm PST. Answers will be posted the following Monday.

I thought I made the first challenge difficult, but eight of you got it right. Then I made the second one even more difficult, but still six got them right. This one is by far the most difficult one I have created and I am hoping I can stump you all. I will be greatly impressed with anyone who can come close!

As always, photo credit will be given with the answers. Good luck!
